Your first 10 minutes in BuildMapper
Set your territory, tell us your trades, and turn the first Hot pin into a pipeline card — the whole loop, start to finish.
BuildMapper scores every permit in your market against your profile — so the first ten minutes are about teaching it what a good lead looks like for you. Here's the loop, start to finish.
- 1Draw your territoryOn the map, draw up to 5 service-area polygons — or let the Inferred Territory banner seed one from the cities on your profile. Permits inside your territory earn up to +12 location points, so this is what tilts the map toward work you can actually reach.
- 2Tell us your tradesIn Settings → Targeting, pick your trades and project types. This sets your trade-timing window — the single biggest scoring factor — so a fresh permit in your trade outranks a stale one you can't use.
- 3Work your first leadClick a Hot pin (score 70+), open the project, and use a quick action: Find phone, Draft email, or Add to pipeline. Add to pipeline drops a card in your New column.
- 4Ask Scout who to callOpen Scout and type "Who should I call first?" It reads your scored territory and hands back a ranked shortlist with the reason each one made the cut.
- 5Optional: subscribe your calendarCalendar → Sync gives you a private read-only feed link. Add it to Google, Outlook, or Apple once and the site visits and follow-ups you create in BuildMapper appear in your calendar — your personal events stay private.
How the free account works
You start with 25 project views — yours to spend, they never reset or expire. Browsing the map, the scores, and the table never costs anything; you spend a view only when you open a project's full details (street address, builder, verified contacts). A viewed project stays unlocked for your account forever.
