Use BuildMapper from Claude

Add BuildMapper as a connector in Claude, sign in once, and ask for permits, your pipeline and your documents in plain words. Reads run on their own; every change asks you first.

This guide is hands-on. Follow along in the app.
A free trial takes two minutes: 25 project views or 14 days, whichever comes first. No card.

BuildMapper runs an MCP server, the open standard AI apps use to reach other products. Add it to Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps, Cowork) as a custom connector and Claude can work your BuildMapper account as you: search permits scored for you, read your pipeline, notes, calendar, documents and saved research, ask your Product Brain catalog and your ERP mirror where you have them, and, when you confirm, save leads, move stages, add notes, watch builders and draft emails, quotes and contracts.

Set it up

  1. 1
    Copy the address
In BuildMapper go to Settings → Integrations → Claude and other AI apps and copy the connector address. It ends in /api/mcp.
  2. 2
    Add it in Claude
In Claude open Customize → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, paste the address and add it. On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds it for the organization and each person then connects with their own account.
  3. 3
    Sign in once
Claude sends you to BuildMapper. Sign in if you are not already (two-step verification applies if your account uses it), read what the connector can and cannot do, and choose Allow. You come straight back to Claude, connected.
  4. 4
Turn it on in a chat
In a conversation, open the + menu, choose Connectors and switch BuildMapper on. Then just ask.

What to ask

“What permits over $2M were filed in Kelowna this month? Newest first.”“Who are my stale leads, and what did I last note on each?”“Prepare me for a call about the Lakeshore Drive project.”“Watch Carrington Homes and add their newest permit to my pipeline.”“Draft an email to the builder on the Glenmore permit. Don't send it.”“Which builders in Vernon are not yet our customers?”

How it behaves

  • It sees what you see. Every tool runs as your account, with the same visibility rules as the app: locked projects stay masked, a rep sees their pipeline, a manager sees the team's.
  • Reads run on their own; changes ask first. Claude runs searches and reads without a prompt and asks you before every change. Under the connector's Tool permissions you can set any tool to Always allow, Ask, or Blocked.
  • It never sends anything. Emails are drafts for you to review; quotes and contracts are started for you to finish in the app. If your own Gmail is connected to Claude and you ask Claude to send a draft, that is your action, not BuildMapper's.
  • Changes can be undone. Every reversible change comes back with an undo; say “undo that” and Claude reverses it.
  • It is part of Pro, like Scout: it works through the free trial and on Pro, and pauses on Starter or when a trial ends.

Disconnect

Settings → Integrations → Claude and other AI apps lists every app you have allowed, with Disconnect. Disconnecting ends its access immediately; Claude asks you to connect again the next time you use it. Removing the connector inside Claude also works.

NoteClaude Code (the terminal tool) cannot complete sign-in yet because of how it hands back its local address; the hosted Claude apps are unaffected. Other AI apps that speak MCP and OAuth can use the same address.
