Privacy Policy
Last updated June 4, 2026
1. Who we are
BuildMapper (“BuildMapper,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a sales-intelligence platform that scores active construction permits and helps trade contractors, suppliers, and other professionals find and reach the right projects. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and the BuildMapper application (together, the “Service”).
2. Information we collect
Account information you provide: your name, email address, phone number (if you use phone sign-in), company, role, the trade(s) you sell, and the territories you choose to track.
Usage information: how you interact with the Service — pages viewed, searches run, permits saved, pipeline activity, and Scout queries — used to operate and improve the product.
Content you create: notes, pipeline stages, saved searches, and drafts you generate inside the app.
Permit and business data: the Service surfaces construction-permit records sourced from official municipal and public-records sources, together with related business and contact details compiled from publicly available sources. This data is provided for legitimate business outreach and due diligence.
Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and cookies or similar technologies strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.
3. How we use your information
To provide, maintain, and secure the Service; to authenticate you and keep your account safe; to score permits and surface the leads that match your settings; to provide support; to send service and transactional messages (for example, sign-up confirmation, password resets, and important account notices); and to improve and develop the product. We may use aggregated, de-identified data to understand usage and improve scoring.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers inside the application. We share information only with service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — for example, cloud hosting and database infrastructure, authentication, and email delivery — and only as needed to run the Service. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a corporate transaction (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will continue to protect your information under terms consistent with this policy.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted subprocessors, which may include cloud hosting and application infrastructure, a managed database and authentication provider, an email-delivery provider, and — if you choose to sign in with Google — Google’s authentication service. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
6. Cookies
We use only the cookies and local storage necessary to keep you signed in and to operate core features. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser, though doing so will sign you out.
7. Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
8. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you of material incidents as required by law.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. We honour these rights in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). To exercise any right, contact us at info@buildmapper.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.
10. International users
BuildMapper is operated from Canada and our providers may process data in Canada and the United States. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations under their applicable laws.
11. Children
The Service is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
