Klassen Building Supplies competes across the BC Interior and Fraser Valley, where jobsites are spread across large distances and construction activity shifts week to week. Rafael Tecson's challenge was simple but costly: he never knew exactly where active construction was happening, so he planned routes from memory and habit rather than data. He was driving past hot jobsites without knowing they existed, and visiting cold sites where framing had already stalled. Fuel costs, wasted hours, and missed first-call opportunities were adding up.
Rafael uses BuildMapper for daily route planning. Each morning, or the night before for a full-week view, he opens the Permit Map, filters to his products (framing lumber, sheathing, concrete forms), and marks the top-scoring active permits along his planned route. He groups visits by area, driving from one hot permit to the next with the least backtracking. When a site visit turns up a contact, it goes straight into his Pipeline for follow-up.
Rafael now visits more clients per day with fewer kilometres driven. Fuel costs dropped noticeably in the first quarter. More importantly, he is reaching builders at the right stage: early enough in the project to shape the material choices, not after the order is already placed. His pipeline is steadier because he works from real permit lists instead of gut feel.
